OH MY GOD DOCTOR HORRIBLE! Best thing ever? Best thing ever. WARNING: Katters did, without irony, exclaim "JOSS WHEDON IS AN ASSHOLE". This shocks no one, but OHMAN, is he a good asshole. Alsoalso, do you think Neil Poon-HandlerPatrick Harris would have a threesome with me and The Katters? Because we will totally write to him and ask, even if he is *fabulously* gay. That is all. Go watch.~Sor MOOP! |

About friggin' time I finally read Watchmen. -
In addition to the other things I did today, I watched Enchanted and read the first two issues of Watchmen.
...Eclectic Mith is eclectic.
I feel like I'm reading Watchmen like music. I can't immerse or connect and I don't know whether that's intentional on Moore's part or not. I have been generally spoiled--I know who the big bads are, whose fathers certain people are, the mastermind reveal and what motifs to watch out for. But there's something that's keeping me reserved and apathetic throughout. It's probably fear. Either that or just not having the area knowledge.
(I think it says something that I opened the files and wen "oh! Left to right! Like English. Wait, this is English.")
Frankly, I think it could benefit a lot from panels that aren't square. I like the design but not the art, if you know what I mean.
Of course I'll finish it. Probably tomorrow or Sunday morning. Trouble is that I keep getting The Beginning is the End is the Beginning in my head when I so much as gloss over the idea, and that song is setting up to be nightmare fodder. I'm depressed enough as it is, seriously, I don't need that hissing ostinato and I really don't need that one measure of 2/4.
.
Hopefully that last changes, though. Have a job interview out in Ronkonkoma on Tuesday--private voice and piano instruction, and aside from the asshat commute it's a really good fit. and J is coming up on Sunday~ so that should relieve some of this funk.

Vanishing Tomatoes? Leila and I have drunk half a bottle of wine, and have mislaid an entire container of tomatoes. A pound of tomatoes. Some of which were destined for our salad.
Damn it!
At least there is more wine.

Too many books/Horrible I have too many books. For serious. Today was the first time since 1997 that (almost) all of my books have been in one place. They were in boxes and there are A Lot of boxes. 5 x 5 x 2.5, I would estimate. I think Iam going to look into programs in the area which need books (prisons? libraries?). Also, some books will go in small tough plastic storage boxes, well sealed, in the basement. Moving is a pain. I wantto have less stuff before I do it again. On the other hand, Act II of Dr Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is awesome, and I really really want there to be a soundtrack cd. For the last song of Act II. Yay. Current Mood: tired |

Status I'm feeling a little more myself today, got a little walking in too and was even able to carry my cane for a while. How much of this is drugs and how much is recovery is hard to tell. The last few days have been unbearable, I've been unable to keep any food down, not even dry stuff. Today I finally managed two baked potatoes and a little pasta with a splash of oil. Pretty miserable, but beats becoming a breatharian. I feel quite weak, as you'd expect, also I weighted myself earlier and I'm down to 127lbs, which gets an official underweight stamp of disapproval. On the other hand, the low weight might be good for my back. Hmmm.
In other news, I'm struggling to get a minimalist Linux up and running from a Memory Card. By minimalist, I mean that it must do absolutely nothing more than come up and let me run programs from a shell. All necessary drivers are compiled into the kernel (which I believe I've managed) and yeah, it doesn't work. I get to a shell prompt, but none of the devices or programs I try to run exist, even though they're there (I can see them with busybox's ls command, busybox is the only thing that seems to work.) No clue what the deal is, anyone? |

weekend query for locals Anything happening this weekend other than the pool party (which I do intend to be at)? I'm mostly interested in Sat. eveningish things - bfudlmint is going out of town, and I'm looking to find things with my night that aren't sitting home alone. |

How the heck... ... did I not hear about this? http://www.drhorrible.com/Joss Whedon's Doctor Horrible musical sing-along blog. Awesome. Two episodesacts free, then iTunes download prices apply. DVDs to be released shortly (or shortly after the season completes, I wasn't clear on that part.) This article suggests that all three parts will be available for free until Sunday, at which point iTunes will charge. I think I'll be getting the DVD. |

Faerieworlds Music - Confirmed Ok. We're on at 5pm on Friday on the main stage and 1pm on Sunday on the main stage. It's all confirmed now and I've fixed all my websites. The village stage set is no more, which means we get to relax on Saturday to a certain extent. I am thinking a couple of short guerilla booth concerts are in order, possibly. Also, now stealthcello doesn't have to do TWO shows that day and she can focus on Gaia Consort, which will make us all very happy, I'm sure. :D Current Mood: drained |

sundries - I know it is just PMS. I know it is just gluten poisoning. I know it is just not enough sleep and a lot of stress, but my ability to cope right now is extremely limited and I don't like it.
- I saw Gridlock from DW, series 3 last night and despite knowing all the spoilers, it fucking broke me. |

Nope. Still Don't Like Him. Still not a Wheadon fan. All I kept thinking was "Look, it's the raincoat outfit from this week's Project Runway."
The last song was kinda cute-ish, but the rest made me want to gag.
PS. I refuse to defend my dislike of your God. Most people don't like my God. I deal with it - you can too. |

So, the Watchmen teaser trailer is online.
Part of me feels dirty for watching it, like I've somehow disturbed the purity of going into this movie with nothing, with no idea what's going to happen. I *love* going into movies like that.
But the rest of me? Kinda sorta glee, yep.
(And I find it *really* amusing that when I went to put the date into iCal, so I can remember it, it was already there. Hee, Sorcy = fandork.)

Writing: I'm doin' it wrong $1.75 per word for a non-exclusive opening paragraph? I have TONS of opening paragraphs. I am ongepotchket with opening paragraphs. Why am I struggling to finish the bloody stories and sell exclusive first pub rights for 5 cents a word, if I'm lucky? It's not a bug, it's a feature! and one more bit of bs I just got my annual Social Security statement. And I should have dealt with the mystery on it last year but forgot. Which means I should really do it this year. You see, they think I was born three days earlier than I was. |
